Dirk, thank you for a memorable weekend! Booking our trip to Rainbow Beach and Double Island Point was a breeze. You were so helpful and picking up the 4×4 was painless.

We appreciated you arranging permits and the ferry for us. We were a bit nervous about the tides so close to spring tide but thanks to your sites’ handy tide information we were able to plan our trip and driving around the 1.5m tides. We love the Land Cruiser which just breezed through churned up loose sand, gripped where it needed to and took us exactly where we wanted to go. The empty stretch of beach was heavenly, the water warm and the view just unbelievable.

We were greeted at our camp site by the resident scrub turkey and a solitary playful dolphin. The sun set in a blaze of orange and we were soon sitting back under a blanket of stars watching satellites and distant lightning over the ocean.



So, so beautiful! Hint for anyone thinking they don’t need bug spray in winter. Pack it! They come out late but they’re still there. Thankfully we slept in the Landie so we had a lovely bug-free sleep. The back of the Landie was roomy enough for the two of us to sleep in and it was just magical falling asleep to the sound of the tide coming in. The only complaint we had about the whole trip was that it ended much too soon. Before we knew it we were returning the Land Rover and having to readjust to life away from the beach.


We want to just go there and stay forever. With your Landie 🙂
